I found a library site that claims to have 30 million articles available. I though, "Okay. I'll give them a chance. Let's see what they've got for these Search words,... intraparietal sulcus dyscalculia. To their credit, out of 30 million articles, they did actually have ONE article containing my Search words.

... but I also wanted you to read for yourselves the cute little joke that the introduction to that dyscalculia article contained. It's about half-way down in what I've posted, with text in green. - jus'

A science buff but a maths retard, I was intrigued by this headline from a University College London press release:]"Scientists find brain function most important to maths ability."
Has this ever been in doubt? Perhaps the UCL researchers had thought fingers were more important for counting? Research has shown that even monkeys and salamanders - I am not kidding! - can do elementary maths, and some brain activities are involved.
The headline notwithstanding, neuroscientist Brian Butterworth and his team have ...
AT THIS POINT, IN ORDER TO GET TO READ THE REST OF THE ARTICLE, I ENTERED MY EMAIL ADDRESS AND ZIP CODE, CLICKED ON WHICH LIBRARY I WOULD ACCESS THE ARTICLE 'THROUGH', AND WAS ABLE TO FINISH READING THE LITTLE ARTICLE. IT WAS A PAINLESS EXPERIENCE AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! hERE'S THE REST OF THAT ARTICLE. - JUS'
... made an intriguing find that may explain why some otherwise intelligent people have a chronic inability to do maths. Using brain scans, they found a small area called the intraparietal sulcus (IPS) lights up when people count numbers and/or evaluate magnitudes such as a thing being bigger or smaller than another.
The London researchers now speculate that people who suffer from dyscalculia, a maths-learning disability, may have an impaired brain network related to IPS.
"Scientists find [a] brain function most important to maths ability", apparently!

This does seem to be a good way to do dyscalculia research. I went to the same site that I listed above, called "Access My Library", and I put in the Search words "dyscalculia testing". I don't have time to read them all right now, but look at the neat (albeit 2007) articles that are available to me in Full Text. If these don't all come up on your local library's 'search', please let me know. I would be able to read the Full Text version of these three articles just by clicking on them. - jus'
