How do I get tested for dyscalculia in North Carolina? I looked on the Learning Disabilities Association of North Carolina website but couldn't find any information regarding testing and diagnosis. If anybody can point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Allyson and Welcome to the ForumSmile,
Whilst I cant direct you to anywhere for testing and diagnosis.
Given that it could 'cost' you some money?
The first question, is your reason/s for getting a test/ diagnosis?
My concern is that it might be for an Employer or for an Education institution? If this is the situation, then you will need to find whose test and diagnosis they will accept? As they often use this as an 'Escape Clause', where they only accept a diagnosis from certain people.
So if this is the case, then this needs to be considered?

Though if it is just for personal confirmation, this could be a bit easier?
Where many people might be happy to take your money?
But how valid is their diagnosis?
Anyway, my point is that you need to define exactly what you want from a diagnosis? Before you hand over any money?
So perhaps you could let us know what information you want from a test and diagnosis? So that you dont have to pay for information that you never wanted?
Sorry, but I'm a bit cynical about how people with Learning Differences are financially exploited.

Hi Allyson, welcome Smile

Although the association don't write about diagnosing at their website, their job is to help with this - they help dylexic people find ways to get diagnosed every day, and have probably helped dyscalculics too. And even if they haven't heard from dyscalculics yet, I'm sure that they are more than willing to help you find a way to get diagnosed somewhere around Charlotte. You can contact LDA Charlotte here;

Wanda Pendergrass

It's probably eaiser and a lot quicker to phone her than email her.

Good luck Smile
