Merry Christmas to you too, Laura! It's crazy to think that 2010 is just about over... it seems like it just began. Now I'm going to have to get used to writing '11 as the year... and by the time I finally get accustomed to that, it will be 2012! I hope you have a great holiday filled with relaxation and fun times with your family.

Awwww Laura I'm so glad you feel that way, thank you. Smile That made me feel good to read, both that you had a great day and that you feel like talking to me has helped some. I really do think 2011 will be a great year for you - you are on the right track and soon you are going to find a medication that helps. Something will happen for you job-wise, that's just the way the world works: we get handed something bad, then something good. Infinity runs in both directions.

I just got home and sat down for what feels like the first time all day. I spent pretty much every moment since I woke up at someone else's house eating, partying, watching movies, etc. I'm exhausted! My boyfriend is coming into town tomorrow to spend the day with me and we have already decided that we aren't going to do a damn thing. We might go see a movie but other than that we're going to just lay around and be lazy... we've both had a really busy Christmas weekend and need to just kick back and relax.

oh, I'm so happy with you Laura that you had such a good day!Smile

My holiday time is pretty low-key as we're Jewish and husband's parents are dead; I have no siblings. We usually do a Thanksgiving gathering with my family and then go to see hubby's sister and her family, where the adults have a gift for the kids, but we don't give each other really anything. Instead, we get together and make a charitable donation. The focus really is on some quiet, together time and a homemade meal - we usually like to bring some yummy spicy chips and guacamole for appetizers!

Yesterday I made a last-minuet decision to spend some time with my folks and our synagogue friends, having a Chinese meal at one of the congregant's homes. She made this Austrian flour-less chocolate torte for dessert. I tried a teeny bit - and it was wonderful but I don't need a whole slice - and gave the rest to my dad, who has the same chocolate sweet tooth. It was a nice time.

Hey Rottie,

Awwww I never knew you were Jewish!! Did you have a nice time anyways celebrating "quietness" at your Hubby's sister's? That sounds nice just to have "quietness" In my family I buy my parents gifts and my siblings and that's it. My Mum buys my Counsin's children presents and taht's it. 1 Cousin has 2 kids- 1 boy and 1 girl and 1 Cousin has 3 kids- all girls. So None of the "adults" get presents... just us kids. Funny thing is my eldest cousin is 39 years old in 3 days Grin my family are weird.

You sound like you have had a fab time too Grin

Hey Kat...

You deserved it Grin You have helped me so much this year... plus you diagnosised me 1st lol Grin I hope you have been having a fab time this festive period... mad to think 2011 is just around the corner Grin

hey LauraSmile yup, nice time...got to meet their new little Schnauzer-mix pup they got through rescue; she's adorable, very tiny from what I'm used to. Sorry for any confusion - our time at our house and with my folks was pretty quiet; hubby's sister not as much, with two kids <13 and 9> and the new pup <8 months> and their young cat < "inherited" from husband's deceased mom>.

Seems like you have many cousins. I have lots of family in different places, related, but people I've never met - just heard stories of from my dad. He grew up in a Jewish neighborhood in Chicago with lots of relatives who over the years dispersed here and there.

I'm not religious but grew up in an activist Jewish household. My folks were married by a rabbi and have a Hebrew and English marriage certificate; I have a Jewish name and was given it in a ceremony for girls in a synagogue. My folks decided to let me chose if I wanted to be involved in institutional/religious Jewish life, around 8 or 9 - I went to a couple of things and thought it wasn't for me and stopped...returned years later after going to college in a small hunting town upstate from where I was born <city> and was one of say, 2 Jewish students I was aware of. But my folks initially let me choose because they knew that if I had a choice, I'd be more likely to come back to it later, and not be resentful - and so I did.

Hope you have another good day tomorrow, LauraSmile
