I haven't been around much lately because I've been been busy with school- I'm almost ready to graduate. And, on Friday, I start work on Capstone, which may well be the most intense exam known to mankind (no, there's no math, but still...). The test has three questions, and it will take a week to complete. At the same time, I have to keep up with my regular assignments.
I have to pass this exam in order to graduate (at my school, this exam is what master's students do instead of writing a thesis), so I'm getting nervous to say the least.

Good for you, Nissa. Although they have cut back on the 'hours' at my local library, it's still open, and everybody has to have books. Besides public libraries, what other places will you be able to get hired? - jus'

Thanks everyone! Smile
I'm primarily interested in working in a public library, but I could also apply to work at a nearby academic library. (At some of the larger universities, they want librarians to have 2 masters degrees- one in library science, and one in another department. Let's say I wanted to be a librarian for the history department- I'd have to have an MS in history. Getting a second degree isn't in my plans).

The test starts tomorrow, so I may or may not be around for the next few days.

Wishing you well on that humongous test. Yes, about that 'second MS degree' in order to get hired,... at the college where I did my Paralegal degree, we had a 'law library' in the upstairs part of the regular college library. Although the law library was only about one/twentieth the size of the rest of the library, my professor told us that the cost of maintaining that library was more than the whole 'rest of' the library put together. The assistant who they hired to help in that law library had to be a Paralegal student with an A average in Paralegal studies. It was just honestly such a specific skill, knowing the rules for updating pamphlets and pocket parts,... what and when to throw things away,... not to mention helping newbies find 'where' to look for information,... that a normal, smart, (but non-paralegal) person would be lost in that job. I can't imagine that History could be worse, but then, I've only taken three HIstory courses,... American I and II, and Art II. But getting you Masters! That's wonderful! So many of us here have wanted that kind of credential, but couldn't 'get there'. We'll all be waiting to hear back from you. - jus'

I just finished answering the first question. This exam isn't as bad as I thought it would be- it's really not that much harder than writing any other paper, except for the fact that I have to do three of them in one week.
I'm a procrastinator which turns out to be an advantage because I'm used to writing papers in a short amount of time.

Only two more questions to go Smile

And I'm done! Between the three questions, I wrote 4,917 words ( which works out to almost 19 pages, double spaced) of research paper in one week. Phew! I'm going to bed now. if I hurry, I might make it before midnight.
