Being gay and juggling having Dyscalculia was neverr easy.

I was insecure as a child for two reasons for so long.
It was so scary back then.

I didn't want to be made fun of for being gay, but people always seemed to know.
People even knew before I knew what "gay" was.

Having Dyscalculia is a whole other story. I tried my best to cover that up by cheating my ass off.

A little while before I turned 17, I realized i couldn't keep cheating to get by.

I eventually found Dyscalculia (during another story)
No one really believed me, besides a handful of people.

Some still don't.
I'm on the road to getting tested, because I need to in order to fulfill my dream.

To get my masters in fine arts for creative writing and become a writer.

I know I don't neccesarily need to go to college, but It's apart of my dream.

I want that masters degree.

Does anyone have a story similar to mine?

Hi Noah,

Welcome..No, I cannot commiserate with being gay; however, I understand the frustrations of the math difficulty as I walk alongside my 12 yo son, seeking the best options available for him.

You math LD shouldn't stand in the way of your ambition to become a writer. Links to colleges that have programs for students with LDs follow:

Some state universities offer a flexible liberal arts college called New College, where the student sits down with an adviser to hammer out a course of study. This is an option where you may take simpler math.

Blessings,
Heather

Hey Noah,

I'm bi. I came out in college, where I also the only Jew I was aware of til maybe my last year there.
I was in Special Ed as a young child for Speech and Language but the LD was never caught. I do have a speech difference.

I was very badly bullied in my younger school years and it was very scary.

I've been the "only" whatever for ally life. It's made me who I am.

I can totally understand. It hasn't always been easy, and sometimes i really want to cry, but I don't think I'd be me without having this disability or being gay.

I Love who I am.
