Watching my all time favorite show on net geo wild the Dog Whisperer. I think it is so amazing how ceaser could handle those dogs from hyper active to aggressive to timid it is so awsome. I wonder if I could do that be a dog behavioral trainer I never really thought of any simple job like grooming dogs and such. The more dangerous jobs always seemed to catch my interest like dealing with exotic animals would be a dream come true for me I would enjoy that entirely. But then I saw a series on animal planet called fatal attraction of people who actually ADOPTED EXOTIC ANIMALS ! That was crazy and a accident waiting to happen. Who would adopt a lion or tiger cub and raise it like a house cat that is ridiculous. Wild animals belong in the wild not in homes. You can take the animal out of the wild but you will never be able to take the wild out of that animal.

So with that being said when your around potentially dangerous animals things can happen anything can trigger they'll prey drive. So if you want to admire an animal do it from their natural habitat take plenty of pics and such give the animal the peace and respect it deserves.

Riggs,

I'm a trainer and what I know from many years of experience and attending seminars on how dogs actually learn is that:
that show does a DIS-SERVICE to what is the reality about how dogs actually learn. This is not awesome. The man who is the "Dog Whisper" on that show uses fear, intimidation and a outdated technique in both human and non-human animals called "flooding" to get responses because he leaves the animal with no alternative. The dog shuts down and doesn't learn anything. What you see is him punishing the dogs til they "submit" which is a very archaic and inhumane way to achieve anything. The methods he shows are based on faulty/incorrect research originally based in captive-wolf packs. Dogs are NOT wolves behaviorally and do not behave the same way.
If you want to want a tv show trainer, I suggest you watch Victoria Stillwell "It's Me or the Dog" - or look up her site and check into any video or materials she has on there. There are other knowledgeable people I could refer you to also if you want.

I do agree with you on having most exotics - especially large mammals - as "pets".
I put "most" because technically - large parrots, snakes, lizards, chinchillas etc - are also "exotics" but I think, bred in captivity and raised by knowledgeable people - that can "work".
