Yeah, I've had people ask what's wrong because I'm normally chatty & I just want to shut down in those type of environments. Or worse, I get irritable and snappy. It's pretty social where I work and they host all of these nice events with food, drinks & sometimes music. While they can be fun, they're a bit daunting with the name/face thing and all of the cross conversations.

Plus doing the food/cocktail juggling thing, which I've never been good at. But on the bright side, some of the conversations become my cue to remember someone's name. Just as I'll see someone in the elevator, remember the request I did for them and then see myself typing their e-mail, I'll see someone, remember the conversation and then remember someone introducing them to me. But I don't directly remember the name, I remember the topic of conversation first.
