Dear mathmustdie,
I may be treading on thin ice here, because I'm certainly no expert, but I have two questions about your testing. I have a lot to learn in this field myself, so please don't let me upset you. What 'kind' of doctor tested you? Was she a psychologist? an educational psychologist? a neuropsychologist? a psychiatrist? That was my first 'question'. And my second question is, "Do you know why you were only given the "Abbreviated" Wechsler, rather than the complete version?
On another Thread, about eight months ago, we had quite a discussion because some members had been told that they had 'math anxiety' and that that was the reason they couldn't pass math tests. True, anxiety does make whatever one is doing more difficult, but when a person is pressured to do something that he/she is unable to do, then 'anxiety' is a completely normal reaction, and not a "psychosis". Although you are talking about the comments on your driving, and not about taking math tests, I think that you are annoyed by the same lack of understanding for your set of circumstances (having an actual disability, although it hasn't be diagnosed) that the other forum members were discussing. If I can find that Thread, I'll post a link here to it for you. - jus'
I didn't find what I was looking for about anxiety, but I found this 'driving issues' Thread that I think you'll like. Some of us laughed a lot about each other's stories.
