LMAO at the title of this thread, seriously. I'm gonna get on with this so please bare with me.
How often do you receive compliments? Like, even from random people?
I, for example, often receive compliments from people I don't even know that close.
And just the day before yesterday a guy in our class (who happens to be one of the brightest students) announced that I was cute. Rofl. And I had to laugh. He announced it literally in front of the students who were present that time. And they all looked at him as if he were demented - not that I'm ugly and seemingly the complete opposite of what he just said but because he said it in a rather unusual time. He just sort of blurted it out.
"Really?" I asked him. I hardly even know the guy. He's our classmate and typically the most arrogant and smart-ass student I've ever met so far in my school life.
He kept walking round in circles and told us that he wasn't kidding and that was only being an open-minded person. It was also a bit of unusual since he rarely give comments on people like this, so I think this ridiculed the whole class. Thank God, not everyone heard it. It'll be really awkward if they had to hear it.
Now, in addition, he went on with the 'you're real cute' compliments just this day. While we were waiting for our Literature instructor, he can't stop walking around (more like stomping around like a kid) in the classroom. Me and my friends: Russel and Rose were at the back of the room just reading our Biochemistry manual (preparing for a long quiz that afternoon). He particularly walked to us and he saw the wallpaper on my cellphone. He asked who it was and I told him that it was John Lennon. He was in a bit of surprised since he (said) he was familiar with the 70's John Lennon (and I had the 60's John Lennon :P). Then he started walking round and round again, when finally he came back to our spot and said that I'm cute. This time, he made it a long:
Real cute. Once again, I had to laugh and look oblivious to this. Russel and Rose also looked funny that I can't stop laughing inside that whole time. They were like this: o_______________o?
Like before, they were in disbelief - probably weirded by the comment too. I just had to laugh at this.
"Will you please stop? You're acting real odd." That's what I told him. He just gasped and said he was telling the truth and etc etc etc.
Then he even turned to my friends and asked, "C'mon, don't you think she's cute? I mean real cute?"
And I really had to laugh. I mean, he was like a child. Both of my friends didn't say anything - they look really ridiculed by it all. And then he went on with his listing for candidates on being his girlfriend and he said that I was on his list and told me that I should not reject him. (LMAO) He also asked me if I ever had a boyfriend before and Rose said no. Then he asked why and I said, "why would you want to know?" "Well, this is the first time we got to talk about something. I'm just curious you know. So why? Because they're intimidated by you?" "I don't know." I replied.
so bottom line...WHAT A WEIRD DAY!
My first comment from a male human being aside from my uncles, grandfathers, godfathers, and my dad XD
Overall, it made me laugh. Haha.

He likes you, duh! He was obviously trying to flirt with you... flirt back! Tell him he's not bad looking either and see what happens. ;)
And yes, I do get random compliments all the time from strangers. Usually it's about my hair - my hair is a kind of coppery red color with some brown and blonde tones, not one you see very often because you couldn't dye it that color if you tried, so people usually comment on that.

hahaha, i have a similar story.
its so awkward isnt it?!
once i was with my cousin, and a guy who had a crush on her 'TRIPED' into her. we think he tryd to kiss her, cuz he was obviusly aiming there. befor he even reached her, she reached out on impulse and slaped him acros the face so hard he flew back the other way. :P
he had a red mark on his face for a day or so after that, and i know it was mean, but i couldnt help myself from laughing hysterically. xD
(btw that wasnt the similar experience, i just felt like blurting it out. :P)
i like what kat said, though i do not have any experience in the matter (typically i just play games with there mind until they relize im to good for them ^^) and i do that cuz i hate them. why do i always like the people who hate me and the people who i hate like me?!) anyway, how do you feel about him? is he nice, or just weird?
best get back to packing,
teeco :)

@Kat: I never thought of that (he was flirting), srsly O.O
@Teeco: Your story just made me LOL. Anyways, he's not bad-looking and he's super smart (only God knows how fond I am for smart people) and he's also arrogant (I mean, he's got something to prove, doesn't he?). I don't know if he likes, you know? My likes since I don't waste my time talking to people XD. But I think he's nice. Just this noon my friends were talking about him. They were trying to sort out his moods because there are times when he's
real nice and a bit of a 'don't-care' type of person. But they all agreed on one thing: He's intelligent XD. I pretended that I wasn't listening of course. But I don't know, let's just see what happens when a new week starts...let's just see if he'd compliment me moar, lmao.
P.S the funny thing is, he's close with girls - our female classmates in general. But can't say that the both of us are close or anything like that than plain classmates, since it's quite obvious that I don't talk to him or other male subjects unless they ask something or say something to me first. Moreover, the second time he said that "You're real cute.", he went behind me and started touching my hair. I told him to stop and I was feeling a bit annoyed and funny at the same time. He smacked me back with a, "I'm only touching your hair!" and I let him go. But I've seen him a couple of times touching another girl's hair or complimenting another girl's looks because he's just like that. The unusual part is that, he's so sure of himself (to the extent that he almost seem like he was exaggerating on the compliments) when he said that I was cute :P
Then he started talking about riding on a private airplane when going to school and my friends and I started laughing at him because he was saying silly things. He said that it was only some kind of 'wishful thinking', and that everyone else have one so. He's real funny when he acts arrogant and everyone would just throw papers at him so he'd stop XD.
now I can't stop giggling over this thread again XD

Yes of course he is flirting with you! Look, we may be from two different countries but one thing is pretty universal... if a guy tells you he thinks you're cute, starts playing with your hair, teases you... he's trying to flirt with you. So come Monday, flirt back! You might have yourself a boyfriend by the end of the month. ;)

I just noticed this...He's like the only guy who calls me by my name "Pauline". Personally, I have this sort of distaste for males calling me by my nickname that my female friends bestowed upon me: "Pau". Weird but I find it a bit awkward when a guy calls me that -unless he's gay XD or a real close friend of mine. But yeah, he calling me (the first male to call me) by my name "Pauline" is a point for me.Lolz
Plus, I don't think I'm cute at all. But probably depends on the beholder :-P

I've been observing him for a couple of days and finally came to a conclusion that he's an
ENTP type of guy. Shame.
